Quotes

Kevin on Whitney:

“It's very easy to fall in love with Whitney.”

“I remember looking at Whitney and I said, “Oh man, this girl, really. She just really has it.”
This is not race. This is just about good, old-fashioned chemistry...boy-girl stuff.”

“At her essence, Whitney was a really good person.”

“I promised her two things -- that I would be right there with her, and she would not be bad.”

“Whitney and I had a lot in common.”

“A lot of leading men could have played my part, a lot of guys could have filled that role.
But you Whitney, I truly believe, were the only one who could have played Rachel Marron
at that time.”

“Whitney, if you could hear me now I would tell you, you weren't just good enough,
you were great.” “People didn't just like you, Whitney, they loved you.”

“I urge us all...to dry our tears, suspend our sorrow and perhaps our anger just long enough,
to remember the sweet miracle of Whitney”...“Sing your hearts out,
knowing that there is an angel in Heaven making God Himself wonder
how He made something so perfect.”

“Off you go Whitney, off you go. Escorted by an army of angels to your Heavenly Father,
when you sing before Him, don't you worry you'll be good enough.”

“That was big. It was like a...kind of a score to our life together a little bit...
People were suffering, the people closest to her were truly, truly suffering, and that song kind of...
it did kind of bring everything back together, but it was an absolute goodbye.”

“A couple of times over the years I called radio stations that were on her pretty hard,
asking the deejay to look at it in a different light. And at a couple of critical moments in her life,
I was asked by a close friend to write her a letter. And I did. I don’t know if she ever read them.”

“I was writing [my eulogy] on the plane, in the limo, in bed. It was important.
When I first walked into that church, it was electric, man.”

“I started [speaking] with the idea that sometimes
what you think life will be it won't be at all,
and about what was real between Whitney and me,
what we talked about—being in church when we were little,
both getting in trouble, about our not wanting to be preachers...
I wanted to impart a bit of the Whitney that I knew,
and maybe people could think about her in a different way.”

“I think about Whitney a little bit the way I think about the Kennedys.
I know there’s trouble, but I choose to think about a lot of other stuff.
The trouble is as real as the achievement, but it does not tarnish it.”

“You don't do that for everybody. And it was a pretty seminal moment for Whitney.”
“I took Whitney in my arms and kissed her, not as a black woman but as a beautiful woman.
That’s how I saw her.”

“She was a very important person to me and the world has connected us
in a way that we'll never not be.”

Whitney on Kevin:

“It was really nice, really a joy to work with Kevin,
and it had a lot to do with his personality.
He is down-to-earth; he doesn't trip. He's into his work.
And he's very kind, he's effective and he's considerate.”

“That was more exciting for me than the actual idea that he is this hunk
Kevin Costner. Yes, he's a hunk and he's sexy.
We all know that, but that's not what I was looking for.”

“We kind of made a deal. He loves to sing, he loves music.
Okay, Kevin -- I'll help you with your singing if you help me with the acting.”

“He was kind enough, and gracious enough, to ensure that I was comfortable,
being that it was my first film, he understood that, and he knows what it can be like
to be doing your first film so he was really kind and very... very kind!”

“How do I know I can act? I've never done it before!
But Kevin said, “You can do it, I know you can do it, I just know you can.”
I was like, “This man has more faith in me than I have faith in myself.”
Oh, he was a tremendous help...I mean, he made me feel so comfortable about acting,
and he made it look and seem so easy, you know,
and little bits and pieces he gave me helped me so much.
Kevin was so great.”

“What is Kevin Costner really like? Well, I can tell you this - I was blessed.
Kevin cares...Kevin really cares.”

“If I have one friend in Hollywood, it's Kevin.”

H e i g h t: 6' 1" (1.85 m)

Kevin was born in Lynwood, California, on January 18, 1955, the third child of Bill Costner, a ditch digger and ultimately an electric line servicer for Southern California Edison, and Sharon Costner. He has 2 older brothers (middle brother died at birth) and was raised Baptist. Costner was not academically inclined. Rather, he enjoyed sports, took piano lessons, wrote poetry and sang in the First Baptist Choir. He has stated that a viewing of the film How the West Was Won at the age of seven had "formed" his childhood. At 18, he built his own canoe and paddled his way down the rivers that Lewis & Clark followed to the Pacific. Despite his present height, he was only 5'2" when he graduated high school. Nonetheless, he still managed to be a basketball, football and baseball star. In 1973, he enrolled at California State University at Fullerton, where he majored in business. (more info here)

Whitney began singing in the choir at her church, The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, as a young child and by the age of 15 was singing backing vocals professionally with her mother on Chaka Khan's 1978 hit, 'I'm Every Woman'. She went on to provide backing vocals for Lou Rawls, Jermaine Jackson and her own mother and worked briefly as a model, appearing on the cover of 'Seventeen' magazine in 1981.

Her debut album, 'Whitney Houston', was released in 1985 and became the biggest-selling album by a debut artist. Several hit singles, including 'Saving All My Love For You', 'How Will I Know', 'You Give Good Love', and 'The Greatest Love of All', were released from the album, setting her up for a Beatles-beating seven consecutive US number ones. The album itself sold 3 million copies in its first year in the US and went on to sell 25 million worldwide, winning her the first of her six Grammies. (more info here)

~Kevney's Poem~

Ode to Love’s Regret
-By Scribbler

Oh! Nymph of my dream! Glorious moonbeam!
My heart aches, each second, each minute, each hour, each day,
Too soon, too soon, have you gone away!

I should’ve held her aye, – forever,
I should’ve held her close, closer.
I should’ve kissed her today, tonight, tomorrow,
I should’ve whispered in her ear, –
“Say what they want; we don’t care.”
I should’ve let my feelings flow,
Like the river, gently travelling
Into endless space and time,
Freely, without thinking, just singing, and just glistening
Under the sun, and with a passion undone,
And with a love compared to none.
Oh, how I wanted her; how my heart yearned for her,
How she excited me, how she delighted me.
She was so beautiful, utterly divine,
Heavenly creature, perfect, sublime,
Goddess of Song, you were mine, yes, you were mine!

Why did I free her from my arms?
Why did I let her walk away from my charms?
Wish, Oh how I wish she were here today,
I will suffer long and for always, aye.
I think of her, my heart is bursting,
My body is on fire, my brain is scorching,
I want to touch her, taste her, now and forever,
When will my soul stop its quiver….
This pain, I cannot bear any longer,
I die each day as I remember
The piercing image of her beauty and her smile,
Come, stay with me, and rest awhile.

No, stay with me, and rest forever,
For I shall never ever be the same
Without you, – Life – there is no gain.

Kevney Songs

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU
written by Dolly Parton
sung by Whitney Houston

If I should stay,
I would only be in your way
So I'll go, but I know
I'll think of you ev'ry step of the way

And I will always love you
I will always love you
You, my darling you. Hmm

Bittersweet memories
that is all I'm taking with me
So, goodbye. Please, don't cry
We both know I'm not what you, you need

And I will always love you
I will always love you

(Instrumental solo)

I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish to you, joy and happiness
But above all this, I wish you love

And I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I, I will always love you

You, darling, I love you
Ooh, I'll always, I'll always love you

MOON SO HIGH
written by Kevin Costner & Modern West
sung by Kevin Costner & Modern West

Moon’s so high
Nowhere to go but down from here
Here am I wishing that you were near
But it all came crashing down
You were nowhere to be found

Yeah I remember your little girl smile
I guess never had you
Just held you for a little while
Till it all came crashing down
You were nowhere to be found
There’s still pieces all around scattered everywhere

You could break my heart girl a thousand times or more
I’d still come running back to knock upon your door
Don’t get me wrong I really ain’t that mad
You’re just the best thing I’ve ever had

And I remember last November
Yeah I see right to the day
You turned around and walked away
Then it all came crashing down -
You were nowhere to be found
There’s still pieces all around
Pieces of my broken heart

The Moon So High tonight
Nowhere to go but down from here
Well you’d think by now I might’ve learned to say goodbye
But I’ll never say goodbye I’ll never say goodbye

Azgirl, no man is allowed to stick his fingers in my front jeans pocket except my husband, and even then, he does it rarely, and even then he wouldn't do it in front of others. Gobsmacked82

Yep, that's what I'm talking about GS82! Sometimes I have to sit there a minute and go, 'wait a minute - this really is something!' when I notice stuff like that with Whitney and KC. If a guy friend of mine put his arm around me and tried to stick his fingers in my pocket, I'd probably slap his hand and also be thinking anyone around would be thinking we're up to no good!

Yes it does. Except when you put the [yt] code you need to put in the letters & numbers at the end of the youtube video by copying & pasting them. BTW Ladies I have to ask do you guys like the titles we have for the threads or do you want me to delete some of them? And we can think of better ones?

Yep, that's what I'm talking about GS82! Sometimes I have to sit there a minute and go, 'wait a minute - this really is something!' when I notice stuff like that with Whitney and KC. If a guy friend of mine put his arm around me and tried to stick his fingers in my pocket, I'd probably slap his hand and also be thinking anyone around would be thinking we're up to no good!
Yeah, there was teenage, new-love, smoking chemistry written all over that body language, in whatever way you want to look at it.

BTW, shippers. I saw parts of the On Our Own show online, and it's pretty awful. Bobbi Kristina is really getting raked over the coals already, as this unstable girl, lost in either grief or bad habits demonstrated by her parents. She comes across in her confessional interviews as high or drunk, and when they actually had the cameras show up at the cemetery while the family visited Whitney's grave site ... I had to walk away. I couldn't watch. Whitney's tombstone was in the shot and everything, while her rendition of "I Love the Lord" played. Shame on Pat for being so exploitative and hypocritical. No wonder the critics went in on her. She likes to say that the family is used to the media being in their business anyway. Well, I wonder why!

Pat is going to earn the same reputation and reap the same amount of public scorn as Joe Jackson, if she's not careful. She's exploiting Krissy and Cissy and it won't be long before the journalists, probably Kelly Ripa, just come out and ask her what the deal is about putting the family's personal business out there.

That's enough Pat chat from me. I'd rather focus on Kevney.

OAN, I wanted to re-post the snippet of Whitney's previously unheard song: "Never Give Up," because it was swept in at the end of the last thread. Apparently, it was considered for the ILTY album (2009), but was left off.

AND I found an official-looking video of "Like I Never Left" from ILTY.

Yeah, I don't want to give it much attention either, but that show is exploitive as hell and fake. Pat's been given the the role of 'narrator' which is bad enough. She looks like she's been given some kind of makeover, but still looks sleazy - too much makeup and badly done at that. And when Gary started ranting about "white boys" he sounded as bad as any redneck. This show is just about as lame as BBB. Only thing missing is BB!

Well I was hoping that we could keep the talk about the reality show out of the threads all together because it's got nothing whatsoever to do with Kevney at all, but on the other hand it's hard to avoid talking about it I guess & there's really no way around it.

Bed enough that Pat threw Whitney under the bus at the funeral, now she's doing it to Whitney and BK on this BS show.Shes trying to make Whitney look like a bad parent, BK look like a loose cannon, and herself look like a savior. The only two people I can see that BK should trust are Cissy, who she seems to be keeping her distance from, and Kevin, who said that if she called him he would be there for her. Oh, maybe Robyn Crawford too, who has known BK since birth. The rest are a hot mess, Pat and Gary the worst of the bunch.

You know I really wish that BK would let Cissy & Kevin in and let them help her be a better person and grieve the right away because she certainly isn't doing it the right way right now...ugh that poor kid her life is a mess and she doesn't even know how to grieve differently and the people that are around her don't help the situation either (Pat, Gary..) I mean I know people grieve, but this is more serious than just normal grieving.

Boy that's one heck of a big clue...but of course I'm not surprised anymore. It just gets me more and more onto the fact that they were intimate and in love with each other. It's strange though that some people think it was just a fling/one night stand/a crush and the there's others that think they were intimate/in love and others just don't know or don't care, as for me I'll always and forever believe they were in love and did have an affair and that they were intimate during TBG.
